The 12th China Cruise Shipping Conference International Cruise Expo (CCS12), themed with the “Belt and Road Initiatives” Cruise Tourism, was held in Sanya, Hainan from November 5 to 7. Sun Chengming, Board Member of China Merchants Group (CMG) and Chairman of China Merchants Shekou Holdings (CMSK), was invited to attend the conference and deliver a speech at the President Forum.

Sun Chengming said that CMG is quite optimistic about the prospect of the cruise market in China, and the development of China’s cruise industry and a complete cruise industrial chain is the Group’s corporate strategies and will be forced through thoroughly. Cruise industry in China is at a golden development period. In the future, CMG will adhere to the development strategy that integrates cruise, port and city, stick to integrated operation of “Cruise, Port, City, Tourism, Shopping and Entertainment”, and implement the unique business model of “front Port, mid Zone, backCity”.

CCS12 is jointly hosted by Hainan Provincial Government and China Communications and Transportation Association, and jointly organized by CCYIA, Hainan Tourism Development Committee and the People’s Government of Sanya City. Focusing on the new national strategies and ideas and centering ontheme of the “Belt and Road Initiatives” Cruise Tourism, the conference gathered representatives from four international cruise companies, five central government ministries, six central state-owned enterprises, six cruise tourism pilot zones, ten cruises ports as well as enterprises of the upstream and downstream sectors, to discuss the topics such as cooperation and connectivity in cruise industry, development of the whole cruise industrial chain, how to strengthen“Made in China”, building new types of tourism cities and promoting cruise vacations, etc. During the conference, the National Tourism Administration released National Cruise Tourism Development Plan.

During the conference, Sun Chengming also met with Arnold W.Donald, Global President & CEO of Carnival Corporation; Roger Chen, Chairman of Carnival Corporationin China; Mario Zanetti, President of Costa Group Asia; Anthony Kaufman, Executive Vice President of International Operations of Princess Cruises; Karl Sestak, Director of the CEO Office of Carnival Corporation and Ye Peng, Sales Vice President of (Great China) Carnival Group Costa Cruise. They communicated over how to jointly promote the development of China’s cruise development. Gong Lei, Deputy General Manager of CMSK also attended the conference and exchanges.

“Shenzhen Seen from the Sea”—the Unprecedented Beauty

The first sightseeing cruise of Shenzhen launched

On September 29, “Shenzhen Seen from the Sea” Program Press Conference and Launching Ceremony of the First Sightseeing Cruise of Shenzhen was held at the Prince Bay Cruise Homeport. Liu Qingsheng, member of the Standing Committee of Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC, Liu Jiachen, Deputy Secretary General of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, Zhang Heyun, Director of Shenzhen Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and other government officials, Sun Chengming, Chairman of China Merchants Shekou Holdings (CMSK) and Vice President of China Merchants Group(CMG), and XuYongjun, Managing Director of CMSK have attended the ceremony. Liu Qingsheng announced the official launch of the program and Sun Chengming delivered a speech at the launching ceremony.

Sun Chengming said that “Shenzhen Seen from the Sea” Program is another action of CMSK to contribute to Shenzhen’s tourism industry following the opening of the Prince Bay Cruise Homeport and the formation of Shenzhen Cruise Tourism Alliance, and it is in line with the national policy on developing water tourism and is a new try from “transportation for tourism” to “tourism in transportation”. Taking this as a turning point, CMSK will endeavor to explore and disseminate maritime culture and develop the maritime economy with Shenzhen characteristics to promote shared results of maritime development, demonstrate Shenzhen’s features as a coastal city, shape a maritime culture brand and uplift Shenzhen’s image of a modernized international coastal city.

After the launching ceremony, Liu Qingsheng and around 100 officials and guests got aboard the cruise Xunlong 5 to enjoy the maiden voyage of “Shenzhen Seen from the Sea” Program.

“Shenzhen Seen from the Sea” Program, is led by Shenzhen Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and CMSK, and is operated by Shenzhen Xunlong Shipping Co. Ltd., a CMSK subsidiarydedicated to passenger transport by water in Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau. This is another action of CMSK to contribute to Shenzhen’s tourism industry following the opening of the Prince Bay Cruise Homeport and the formation of Shenzhen Cruise Tourism Alliance. Themed with “Shenzhen Seen from the Sea”—the Unprecedented Beauty, the program sets the first cruise route to start and end at the Prince Bay Cruise Homeport and pass by SCT Port, Shenzhen Bay Bridge, and Shekou Cruise Homeport. There are two 100-min voyagesper day and the day voyage is from16:00 to18:00 and the night voyage is from19:00 to 21:00.
